Sharon and Joan
Casowasco was a place where she sent Morgen (her grand-daughter) to camp every year and a place that she, herself, went for two weeks in June to help with "You Can't Do That at Camp." The campers loved her! Some wild and crazy things happened during those two weeks ... and she was right in the middle of it all! Runs to Auburn in the little red Miata to pick up double stuffed oreos and M&M's for the staff; an impromptu parade where Sharon held a place of honor in her "mediamobile" - a golf cart she used to navigate the site, pictures sent to the conference office to let us know what we were missing. She encouraged me (Joan) one year along with other staff to take part in singing "You Are My Sunshine" to Jim Sherman during the You Can't talent show so I could earn a "star" bead for my necklace. I don't believe it has really hit us yet how much she will be missed.
While it is healthy for us who are left to grieve the loss of our friend here on earth, let us also remember that she is just fine. She has simply changed her address ... and there will be a day when we, too, are called home into God's presence where the things we do not understand presently will all make sense ... and we will know that through it all, God has a plan and a purpose for everything that touches our lives. In the midst of our grief, let us also celebrate that we have a God who is faithful ... One who knows what it takes to bring us safely home.
